Unintentional alphabet diagnosis collector

What the heck is an alphabet diagnosis collector I hear you ask...

Well honestly I'm not sure if I've heard it somewhere or if I came up with it myself but my interpretation of this is basically someone that seems to collect diagnosis' that are acronyms.

So for me I have unintentionally collected:

  • IBD - inflammatory bowel disease specifically ulcerative colitis. This is where ulcers form in the large bowel and rectum and bleed as faeces passes through the intestine. It comes with other issues that can affect your teeth, gums, joints etc. I have had it since I was 10 but diagnosed at 12 and started imuno-suppressants at 14. I had my first surgery a procto colectomy at 21 which removed the large bowel and created a j pouch from the small intestine which is then attached to the rectum. Sadly I got whats known as pouchitis and had the pouch and rectum removed at 29 and an ileostomy formed. It was then refashioned at the age of 36.
  • EDS - Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome I have type 3 which is hypermobile version which is hEDS. I've had this all my life but wasn't diagnosed till I was 31 when I physically couldn't walk without my son's pram. EDS is basically where your muscles over stretch and don't always go back in place straight away which can cause dislocations either full or partial. It can also cause other issues for example with your teeth and gums.
  • GAD - generalised anxiety disorder which is paired with depression. I feel like they go without needing to describe them!
  • PTSD potentially CPTSD - this is post traumatic stress disorder or complex post traumatic stress disorder. This happens to being subjected to extreme stress or trauma. This is a recent potential diagnosis but has been bandied about with me for years as sadly I've been through a lot in my life.
  • BPD also known as EUPD - borderline personality disorder or emotionally unstable personality disorder. This is often caused in childhood but not exclusively and your brain essentially rewires itself due to trauma in attempts to make you safe. This is an incredibly misunderstood diagnosis as we literally feel everything all at once and it's so intense we sometimes have no idea or no time to cope.
  • ADHD - attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, I have a lot of the hall marks for this and it hasn't been officially diagnosed because the wait list is far too long and I just don't have the patience!
  • FMS - fibromyalgia which is a wide spread body pain condition that can cause brain fog, sleep issues and fatigue. I got diagnosed with this around 14 by a rheumatologist then in my 20s a GP decided I didn't have it and it got added back on when my EDS was diagnosed.

So that's why I decided I am an alphabet diagnosis collector and can we just appreciate how well chatGPT knows me with this image! I am a huge Sherlock Holmes fan; should it be Watson since it's medical? Probably but I think Watson would already know about them.

Are you also a collector of alphabet diagnosis' do they cause you to feel less of yourself? If so remember......
